The "S" Word

I love our weathermen.  I do.

They keep my family and me safe during hurricane season.  I thank them for that.

But....

and it is not a big but...

But, still, I wish they would not throw the "S" word around so freely with my school age children in their presence.  

There is nothing like a little pandemonium caused by just the remote prospect of a school closing.   

I could do with a little less excitement in my life, thank you.

It is tantamount to yelling "fire" in a movie theater.  Or "Free chocolate" to a bunch of women. 

It is just not a nice thing to do.  Unless of course, you are reasonably sure that it will.

Entertainment!

Is there anything better than watching puppies and kitten fall asleep on YouTube?  No! there isn't.

Or watching the feel good video of the dancing Wedding Party?   I am smiling just thinking about it.

I love to watch videos on the internet.  There.  I said it.  I do.  I cannot help myself.

Dancing babies, rapping toddlers,  talking geckos, funny claymation, my nephew puppy at his puppy spa running around like a crazy thing.  L.O.V.E it!

I love Cathy Z's blog when she does the video. wink. wink. nudge. nudge.  say no more.  (SNL reference for the younger folks)

And there was the time on unKit Live! (yes, live!) that I broke the binderie during the show.  I laugh so hard every time I watch it.    Every. Single. Time.   Just awful.  Everytime I go to put the paper in the punching machine and push the easy button, I yell "Don't do it!" at my computer screen.  "No!"

Video is going to be even bigger in 2010.  That is my prediction.

5 Reasons Moms Love The Internet #2

This is the reason I began to blog.

I love to write.  I have been keeping a journal since I can remember.  Before I could even write, I would journal pictures of my day, my dreams, my life.

Writing helps me clean out the cobwebs.  If I write a list, it is out of my head and on the paper.

Well, not really.  The truth is once I write it out, it is committed to memory.  If I take the time to write down a grocery list, I often leave it in the car or at home.  I rarely forget a written list.

When I first began blogging, I could not imagine that anyone would read it.  In fact, I did not want anyone to read it.  It was my own private recollections and musings.    But soon, family found me as they often do.  

My blog quickly became a way to keep in contact with family as my family grew.  

Pictures were the heart and breathe of Simply Sudie  sprinkled with humorous tales of mommyhood.  

Tales that were unimagined to any fiction writer.   The time I slipped in pee and took a spill in the bathroom hitting my head on the tub was out there in cyberspace for all to see.  Truth is stranger than fiction.

Years later, I find it perplexing that people find and read my blog.  It is visited from people all over America.  I have a loyal following, and often times people stumble upon my blog looking for a Paula Dean recipe that I have written about.  This little blog ranks number 1 in Google for some crazy searches, not the least of which is Monday humor, and mommyhood humor.  Just crazy.

I am not the most consistent blogger.  I am not the best writer.  But I am the best me.  Not anyone else like me.  Thank goodness for that!

And still, the reason I blog is for me.  I love to write.  I love to laugh.  and I love to share with all of you.

Thank you for stopping by my blog.   and to those who leave comments, thank you so much for taking time to share a little bit of yourself with me.   Comments are like postcards that you are delighted to find in your mailbox.   They clear out the cobwebs.  and most thankfully are not more bills.

Not Necessarily Merry

I know this time of year is difficult for many people.  

Last week I wished a dear friend of mine Merry Christmas without considering the fact that it is not possible for her family to be Merry this year.  Everyday her daughter struggles to live one more day.  Later when I realized what I had done, I cringed at my thoughtlessness.  I cannot imagine what she and her husband are going through this Christmas.

With this I am reminded that this season is not necessarily Merry for many.

They may be missing those who have passed away.  

Or perhaps going through a difficult time, like getting divorced or dealing with a seriously ill family member.

Or maybe experiencing trying financial situations.

Whatever you may be dealing with this holiday, I pray for Peace for you.  and comfort

Christmas Spirit?

Let's hear it!

My favorite thing about Christmas is reconnecting with old friends and family.

I received a happy holiday package from the Lead Fiskateers (Fiskars). 

How thoughtful!

I just love hot cocoa.  and that limited edition squeeze punch has my name all over it.  

I am running over to fix a cup of cocoa as soon as I get this posted.
